SoRelleProfessor Mallory SoRelle has won the American Political Science Association’s 2017 E.E. Schattschneider Award for the best doctoral dissertation in the field of American politics. SoRelle, assistant professor of American politics and public policy in the Government and Law Department who holds a Ph.D. in Government from Cornell University, received the prize for her doctoral project “Democracy Declined: The Failed Politics of Consumer Credit.” The prize is awarded annually and was established in honor of Elmer Eric Schattschneider, a former president of the American Political Science Association and widely published and respected political scientist. SoRelle’s project explores how policymakers, interest groups, and ordinary Americans engage in the politics of predatory lending.
